Pinacl innovating and providing ‘Digital Disruption’ through ‘fintech’ in a leading Transatlantic High Street Bank

Financial technology, also known as Fintech, is an economic industry composed of companies that use technology to make financial services more efficient. The idea is to eradicate incumbent financial systems and challenge traditional corporations that are less reliant on software

Fintech is closely linked with the ‘Digital Disruption Movement’ which is the change that occurs when new digital technologies and business models affect the value proposition of existing goods and services. Digital Disruption can be defined as a technology, that when applied, significantly affects the way a market functions.

An example of a modern disruptive innovation is the Internet, which significantly changed the way that companies do business and negatively impacted companies that were unwilling to adopt it. A disruptive innovation is differentiated from a disruptive technology in that it focuses on the use of the technology rather than the technology itself.

Fintech implementation examples include:

  • Payments
  • Investments
  • Financing
  • Insurance
  • Advisory
  • Cross-Process
  • Infrastructure

Two areas that do not traditionally get much media attention are ‘Cross-Process’ and ‘Infrastructure’.

Cross-Process & Infrastructure

Financial organisations have been capturing data for many years but many don't know what to do with the information or understand how ‘big data analytics’ can assist with predictive modelling which can lead to cost avoidance coupled with streamlined processes.

What Pinacl has been able to do for a large transatlantic high street bank is deploy two of our software applications which have digitally disrupted the entrenched processes and systems to enable clear visibility of big data analytics.

Through the implementation of ‘PinPoint’, a scalable and flexible software platform a leading high street bank is now able to accurately forecast their IT spend based on clear concise interpretation of big data in the form of capacity hot spots. In this instance, two large strategic EMEA Data Centres Pinacl has been able to gain exact capacity analysis enabling the bank to make key business decisions.

Further to this Pinacl has implemented another application called ‘PinVentory’ which not only records equipment stocks levels, provides interactive shipping requests it also take the ‘disrupt’ to a higher level by querying big data on the network and analysing what equipment in production against equipment in stock producing exception reports which enable the bank to realize cost savings in terms of reduced manufacturer maintenance cover.
