Pinacl awarded Cyber Essentials Certification
Pinacl Solutions has been awarded with Cyber Essentials Certification, a scheme launched to get businesses to adhere to best practices in IT security.
Developed by the government and industry, it aims to help organisations protect themselves against common cyber-attacks.
By achieving this certification, Pinacl has demonstrated its commitment to implement technical controls to address basic attacks and prevent the most common attacks.
Cyber essentials also outline five basic security controls that organisations can put in place to ensure they are safe from simple attacks. These are:
1. Use a firewall to secure your Internet connection
2. Choose the most secure settings for your devices and software
3. Control who has access to your data and services
4. Protect yourself from viruses and other malware
5. Keep your devices and software up to date
These controls focus on threats from unskilled attackers which use software tools which are widely available online. This is because vulnerability to simple attacks can mark you out as a target for more in-depth unwanted attention from cyber criminals.
Alasdair Rettie, Technical Director “As a Systems Integrator and Managed Services Provider of networking solutions, Pinacl is aware of the many dangers faced by businesses today when they connect and transact over the Internet. The ever inventive and realistic looking methods scammers are now employing to access a business’s data or to defraud them out of their hard-earned money means that all employees must be suitably trained to identify a scam and deal with it before it becomes a threat. Pinacl take network security very seriously and are proud to add the Cyber Essentials certification alongside our ISO 27001 Information Security accreditation.”
